In 1931, close to Dogger Bank in the North Sea, the largest and most well known earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale.
Although it was 60 miles offshore, it was strong enough to affect the areas on the east coast of England. It caused damage to some buildings and a small tsunami was reported to hit this area and some countries around the North Sea.
Fortunately, it didn't cause any injuries to residents of those areas.
