The climate in Faro
The southernmost city in Portugal, Faro is the capital of the Algarve region and has a population of 42,000. The city is located next to the Ria Formosa lagoon, a large nature reserve with hundreds of different species of birds. Tourism is a growing industry in Faro as low-cost airlines are offering more and more flights to the city. Faro has a moderate Mediterranean climate with warm to hot and sunny summers and mild winters. The average high temperatures in summer are between 26 and 30°C. In winter, they are about 8 to 10°C. Most rain falls during the winter months, and the annual precipitation is 510mm.
