The climate in Stockholm
Situated on 14 islands on the coast in southeast Sweden at the mouth of Lake Malaren, Stockholm has a population of 871,952 in the municipality and over 2.1 million in the metropolitan area. This Swedish capital has long been a centre for culture, media, politics, and economics. Stockholm is the 10th largest visitor destination in Europe. Popular tourist attractions include the amusement park Grona Lund, Royal Dramatic Theatre, the national museum, and the Old Town of the city. Stockholm has a humid continental climate. In summer, the average high temperatures are around 22°C. During this time, daylight can reach almost 18 hours. In winter, the average high temperature is around 0°C with lows near -5°C. Average annual precipitation is 540mm. Snowfall may occur during the winter months.
