The climate in Barnstaple
Found at the lowest crossing point of the River Taw in North Devon in South West England, Barnstaple is a former river-port, civil parish, and town with a population of 30,916. The town claims to be the oldest borough in the United Kingdom. A former manufacturing and industrial centre, today, the town is now the main shopping area in North Devon and benefits from seasonal tourism. Some of the main attractions in the city include the Barnstaple Castle Mound, St. Anne’s Chapel, the Pannier Market, and Butchers Row. Barnstaple has a climate characterised by cool, wet winters and mild, wet summers. The average high temperature in winter is about 9°C with lows near 4°C.
