The climate in Greenock

Located on the south bank of the Clyde where the River Clyde expands into the Firth of Clyde in Inverclyde, Scotland, Greenock is a town in the west central Lowlands with a population of 45,467. Historically, the town was a major centre for shipbuilding, sugar refining, and wool manufacturing. Today, the town’s economy is based around insurance, banking, and shipping exports. Popular attractions include the Mclean Museum and Art Gallery, the esplanade along the coast, the Inchgreen Dry Dock, and the Free French Memorial. Greenock has a climate characterised by cool summers and mild winters. The average high temperature in summer is about 19°C with night time lows near 11°C. In winter, the average high temperature is about 7°C with lows near 2°C. Rainfall occurs year-round with the wettest months typically being October through March. Rain falls on average 10 to 15 days per month.
