Situated on the River Lune in North West England, Lancaster is the county town of Lancashire and has a population of 46,000. Thanks to its port and canal, Lancaster is an ancient settlement that has long existed as a commercial, cultural, and educational centre. The town also has strong ties to the British monarchy. It is known for its fine examples of Georgian architecture. The main attraction is the 13th century Lancaster Castle.
