The climate in Oldham
Situated in North Western England in the county of Greater Manchester, Oldham lies between the Rivers Irk and Medlock. Only 6.7miles away from Manchester, it is the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham. In the 19th century, it became an international centre of textile manufacturing and was one of the first industrialised towns. For a time, it even produced more cotton than France and Germany. Today, the cotton mills are a part of the town’s industrial heritage open to the public. Now the town is more residential and a famous place for performing arts. Oldham experiences a temperate maritime climate which includes light precipitation, cool summers and mild winters. The average temperature in August is 20°C in the afternoon and 12°C in the evening. In wintertime, the temperature doesn’t exceed 6°C in the afternoon and 1°C in the evening.
