The weather and climate in Rome
Located on the western portion of the Italian Peninsula, Rome is the most populous city in Italy and the fifth in the European Union with a population of 2.8 million. Referred to as “The Eternal City”, Rome has a history spanning more than two and a half thousand years. Visitors have the opportunity to see many historic sites including the Colosseum, the ruins of the Roman Forum, and the Catacombs. Rome is also an art capital with plenty of museums. Rome has a Mediterranean climate with mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers. The average annual temperature is above 20°C. The average high in summer is around 30°C and in winter around 12°C. Rome receives about 804mm of rain each year.
