One of the most well known and unexpected hailstorms occurred across Britain on the 7th of June 1996 with temperatures around 33°C in London. An impressive thunderstorm created huge hailstones of around 25mm to 50mm. That day, many cities were affected by this hailstorm, including Dorset, Cambridge, Luton and Salisbury. The damage was significant as the hailstones smashed glasshouses cars roofs and ruined properties.
