The climate in Dover

Facing France across the narrowest part of the English Channel, Dover is a town and ferry port in Kent in South East England with a population of 28,156. The town is surrounded by chalk cliffs that have become known as the White Cliffs of Dover. Thanks to its location, the town has always been of strategic importance to the country. Today, its port is important for ferries crossing between the UK and the European continent. Popular attractions include Dover Castle, Blériot memorial, and the Dover Museum. The town has an oceanic climate characterised by moderate temperatures year-round and light precipitation each month. The average high temperature in summer is 23°C. In winter, the average high is about 6°C with lows near 1°C. Average annual precipitation is 572mm with rain spread out fairly evenly throughout the year.
