Keswick is situated in North West England in the County of Cumbria and has a population of approximately 4,990 inhabitants. The Bassenthwaite Lake, in the Lake District National Park, is only a short distance away. Back in the 13th century, the city was named “Kesewic”, meaning “farm where cheese is made” in old English. Today, tourism is the town’s principal activity, welcoming tens of thousands of visitors each year. Tourists mainly come to see the annual film festival, attracting more than 3,000 people. The beer festival , which takes place on the Keswick Rugby Union club field, and the jazz festival, are also the main tourist attractions. The town benefits from mild summers and winters. In July and August, the warmest months, the daily maximum temperature is 20°C. In winter the average temperature is 2°C. It also experiences sudden weather changes throughout the year.
