Found in the shelter of Mount’s Bay on the English Channel in Cornwall in South West England, Penzance is a town, civil parish, and port with a population of 21,168. The earliest settlement dates back to the Bronze Age, and the town grew thanks to being granted a royal market in 1404. Today, light industry, tourism, and retail play a large role in the town’s economy. Popular attractions include St. Mary’s Church, Chapel Street, and the historic harbour areas. Penzance has a mild climate thanks to its location. It benefits from the mild air arriving from the Gulf Stream, resulting in rather stable temperatures, allowing visitors to enjoy the sun, sea, and sand. Summers are sunny with an average high temperature of 22°C though temperatures around 25°C are quite common. Winters are mild with an average high of 9°C and lows of 4°C. Rainfall occurs throughout the year with summer typically being the driest.
