The climate in Wakefield
Found on the River Calder at the eastern edge of the Pennines in West Yorkshire, England, Wakefield has a population of almost 77,000. Historically, Wakefield was a market town with plenty of fish from the sea and rivers. In the 18th century, it developed through trade in corn, coal mining, and textile. Today, its most notable landmark is the Wakefield Cathedral, which has the tallest spire in Yorkshire. The old Wakefield Bridge is an ancient monument. Wakefield’s climate is influenced by its location next to the Pennines. The average high temperature in the summer is 21°C.
