The climate in Montreal
Found in the Canadian province of Quebec, Montreal is located on the Island of Montreal and has a population of over 1.6 million in the city centre and 3.8 million in the metro area, making it the fifteenth largest city in North America. Archaeological evidence shows that the first people lived there as early as 4,000 years ago. Today, it is an important centre for commerce, aerospace, finance, technology, culture, and world affairs. Popular attractions include the Notre Dame Basilica, Old Montreal, and Mount Royal Park. Montreal is found at the confluence of several climatic zones and has four distinct seasons. The summers are warm to hot and humid with a daily average of 22°C. Winters are cold, snowy, and windy with a daily average of -10°C. Annual precipitation is 980mm including an average of 225cm of snow.
